Education/Instructional Designer   

FedLearn will transform how learning happens for federal government and contractor employees.     

FedLearn is seeking an Education/Instructional Designer to join our team on a full-time basis. FedLearn develops our own massive open online courses (MOOCs) and works with content partners to help them turn their content into MOOCs for the FedLearn learning platform.   You’ll be joining a diverse team with a broad range of skills. We believe in daily stand up meetings and learning from each other. No two days are the same in the lab as you’ll be working on a wide range of projects with opportunities to use your experience and skills to contribute to the development of FedLearn MOOCs.   

Duties Include: 

  • Develop relationships with content partners to support development of MOOCs to FedLearn standards.  
  • Participate in the development of MOOCs to include videos, infographics, animations, etc. 
  • Participate in or lead projects to develop innovative MOOCs that engage learners. 
  • Stay informed about educational technology developments through lists, publications, and conferences.   

Qualifications   

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with learning management system, like Open edX.
  • Continuously learning about new cutting-edge technologies for the support of online education.
  • Knowledge of educational applications of social media.
  • Intermediate skill in the use of Open edX MOOC platforms.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, CSS and Javascript.  

Education & Experience (Required): 

  • Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree in instructional systems design or education technology plus 2-5 years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.    

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Required): 

  • Knowledge of current software and design standards. 
  • Ability to define and solve logical problems for technical applications. 
  • Ability to plan, design, develop, and evaluate engaging multimedia learning/training objects. 
  • Knowledge of instructional design methodologies, pedagogical issues, and best practices for classroom, online and hybrid learning. 
  • Strong knowledge of learning management systems, in particular the Open edX LMS. 
  • Ability to problem-solve effectively, often with limited time and information. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and in a positive manner with others and to provide excellent customer service skills.  

Physical Requirements: 

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks. 
  • Frequently sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation. 
  • Occasionally stand/walk, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds. 
  • Rarely writing by hand, use a telephone.

Working Conditions: 

  • Extended hours and weekends. 
  • Occasional overnight travel.

Senior Product Manager - Learning Team

FedLearn will transform how learning happens for federal government and contractor employees.      

FedLean is searching for a Senior Product Manager with a strong business mindset to deliver great products for FedLean learners. FedLean is an online learning platform that is transforming how learning happens for federal government and contractor employees. As a Senior Product Manager, you will examine market conditions, the competitive and technology landscape, and customer input to evaluate and prioritize product opportunities. You’ll regularly engage with customers, government and contractor stakeholders, and engineering teams to identify, synthesize, and clearly communicate product requirements that create an outstanding learner experience and achieve desired outcomes for our learners.   

Duties Include:  

  • Senior Product Manager for FedLean Learner products. Define strategy, target outcomes, priorities, and roadmap for your mission or business area, and measure impact.
  • Think ahead to the future of our platform, while achieving target engagement outcomes for the Learner team products.
  • Interact directly with learners, course teams, other product managers, and stakeholders from across the company to understand emerging product needs and capture these in the form of user stories.
  • Define the engineering backlog, technical and product requirements, that will achieve the desired outcomes.
  • Define Minimum Viable Product, examine tradeoffs, and manage risks.
  • Work with engineering teams to define the execution plans for the user stories.

 Qualifications  

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in a B2G and/or B2B solutions company, preferably in a learning product focused role.
  • Be data driven and iterative - has audacious hypothesis, yet invests in testing and learning along the way.
  • Demonstrated abilities related to roadmap ownership (or co-ownership) and development.
  • Experience operating and thriving in results focused, fast paced startup environment.
  • Empathy for our Learners and continuous improvement focus.
  • Excellent cross-group collaboration skills, including conflict resolution, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Experience creating user stories, acceptance criteria, and other artifacts related to Agile.
  • Strong understanding of technical concepts, especially in web and database technologies.
