The Certified DoW AI/Data Acumen Professional (FL-CERT-AI-001) is the foundational gateway credential for the FedLearn artificial intelligence and data certification track. This certification ensures that every learner who pursues an advanced certification in the AI/data track has a unified, well-rounded starting point.

Across five courses, candidates build foundational literacy in both AI and data—understanding what AI and machine learning are, how data management works in practice and crucially, how the U.S. Department of War thinks about AI readiness through the AI Hierarchy of Needs framework. 

This DoW-contextualized certification equips professionals with the common language, concepts and mental models required to pursue other FedLearn AI/data certifications and to operate effectively in today’s AI-enabled defense enterprise.

FL-CERT-AI-001 is a prerequisite for FedLearn specialized AI/data certifications.

Certification Certificate

A certificate of completion, digital badge and certificant communications toolkit can be downloaded after successfully finishing all assigned courses, scoring 80 percent or higher on the graded assessments and maintaining consistent performance across all required courses (a score of 61 or higher) as determined by the FedLearn Mission Readiness Knowledge Index (please refer to the FedLearn certification FAQs to learn more).

Individual FedLearn certifications cost $199, which includes all courses required for the individual certification program and access to them for one full year.

Continuing Professional Education Credits

Learners can accrue continuing professional education credits for each of the courses required for this certification or a total of 9.25 CPEs.

Certification Term

This certification remains valid for three years from the date earned.

Maintaining the Certification

Following the certification attainment date, learners must earn 45 CPEs utilizing courses on the FedLearn platform within three years—an average of 15 credits annually, which includes a small professional ethics requirement. Recertification credits are validated using the same rigorous standards applied to the original credential.
