Biases are stereotypes and attitudes influenced by our cognition, and unique life experiences, upbringing, and environment.
Everyone has biases. Biases can impact opinions, perceptions and judgments about other people and situations.
Because we have both known (explicit) and unknown (unconscious) biases that we deal with daily, it is important to understand the impacts they can have on intelligence analysis. In fact, analysis of cause-and-effect relationships can be damaged by individual biases—negatively impacting the quality of this important work and associated deliverables.
In this foundational course, you will learn about the different types of bias that can potentially influence your intelligence analysis work. You will also apply your new knowledge while participating in activities to brainstorm ways to prevent bias from distorting your intelligence analysis work.
